CMS Acoustics wins £1million industrial acoustic contract for state-of-the-art News International print facility

News International print facilityCMS Acoustic Solutions has been appointed by Carillion to supply a high performance internal acoustic wall system for two new printing plants in London and Liverpool. The new plants are part of a £600 million investment by News International in the modernisation of its printing facilities to incorporate the latest technology.

The industrial project, set to create one of the world’s largest and most technologically advanced printworks, will see CMS Acoustics supply its ISO Enclosure Panel System as a high performance sound insulation and absorption solution for the high noise printing press environment.

In contrast to alternative sound insulation wall systems which offer a sound barrier without sound absorption properties, the ISO Enclosure Panel System both prevents the passage of sound through walls and its reflection in internal environments.

The system will therefore ensure a quiet working environment for those employed within the plant and deliver compliance to the recently introduced EU Noise at Work regulations.

Constructed from prefabricated building panels, jointing accessories and fittings, the ISO Enclosure Panel System can be quickly erected on site to create noise-protected structures well within project timescales. The Broxbourne facility is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2007.

The ISO Enclosure Panel System recommended by CMS Acoustics consists of a core of transverse mineral wool bonded to a perforated galvanised steel sheet on one side with a solid sheet on the other. This composition delivers a robust, incombustible and lightweight system, with sound insulation performance of 34-37dB (Rw), dependent on the panel thickness selected.

At the same time, the perforated surface of the ISO Enclosure contributes to A Class sound absorption performance, typically absorbing 90% of reflected sound energy. The material is also fire resistant, with 60Min and 120Min fire certification according to panel thickness.

The panels join together seamlessly to exhibit a flush, aesthetically pleasing surface with no protruding components.
