Regupol SoundDeck Extra keeps business hush hush at Broughton Hall
Regupol SoundDeck Extra, the structural acoustic flooring system from CMS Acoustic Solutions, has been installed at Broughton Hall, Yorkshire, to prevent impact sound from causing disruption between tenants in the North Barn office building. Installed as part of a refurbishment of the three-storey property, Regupol SoundDeck Extra was used on the first elevation to soundproof a new timber floor.
Supplied as 2400mm x 600mm panels at 30mm thick, SoundDeck Extra comprises a high-density barrier base bonded to a resilient layer that is pre-bonded to flooring grade chipboard. This high performance specification delivers sound insulation of 49dB and 55dB, for airborne and impact sound respectively.
At the North Barn, a failed solid slab had caused sound transfer to become an issue between tenants at first floor level and those on the ground floor. To remedy this situation a new timber floor was constructed and then isolated using Regupol SoundDeck Extra, ensuring that commercial tenants would not be disturbed by impact sound or squeaking joists post-refurbishment.
By first applying Regupol isolating strips to the timber joists, Broughton Hall was able to install SoundDeck Extra directly on top. Additional isolation of the first floor construction was then achieved by placing the accompanying SoundDeck acoustic flanking band around the perimeter edge.
Paul Crocombe, maintenance manager, Broughton Hall, comments: “Regupol SoundDeck Extra was simple to install because the system was easy to work with and CMS Acoustics provided comprehensive installation guidelines. This enabled our in-house team to complete the installation extremely efficiently, which meant we could get the tenants back into their offices in a timely manner.”
Designed for use with timber floors, Regupol SoundDeck Extra delivers low frequency sound insulation as well as treating the full broad frequency spectrum. Its shallow construction makes the system ideal for applications where construction heights must be kept to a minimum, as was the case with Broughton Hall’s North Barn refurbishment. Quick and easy to install, the system offers a cost effective solution for controlling impact sound in both residential and commercial developments.
Also in the Regupol SoundDeck range is SoundDeck, a resilient overlay platform system which is ideal for pre-cast, beam and block as well as timber floors. Delivering impact sound insulation of 47dB, SoundDeck is Robust Detail approved (E-FC-1, E-FC-2, E-FS:1) for concrete subfloors type FFT5.
David Holder, director, CMS Acoustic Solutions, concludes: “The Regupol range of impact sound systems offers a choice of solutions for both concrete and timber floors. Designed with ease of use in mind, the systems can be installed without specialist contractors and with next day delivery available nationwide, can be on-site exactly when needed.”
Broughton Hall purchased Regupol SoundDeck Extra through CMS Acoustics approved stockist, Orion Trent.
