Regupol 7210C Docks at the Ramada Encore Chatham
Regupol 7210C, a high performance underscreed isolation material, has been installed at the new Ramada Encore Chatham in the dockyard area of Chatham, Kent, to control impact energy generated by footfall in the 90 hotel guest rooms.
Developed by BDL Management and constructed on remediated land, the contemporary Ramada Encore Chatham is situated over six floors and incorporates a bar, restaurant and meeting rooms, as well as en-suite guest rooms. Following recommendations by the acoustic consultant, Regupol 7210C was specified and installed in all the bedrooms.
Delivering superior sound insulation of 46dB and 49dB for impact and airborne sound respectively, Regupol 7210C is ideal for use in new build projects where impact sound needs to be addressed. Manufactured from a recycled rubber crumb granulate, the material offers a cost effective yet sustainable impact sound solution, which is compatible with all types of floor screed.
Quick and easy to install, the sheets of Regupol 7210C were simply laid over a pre-cast concrete subfloor in the 12m2 hotel guest rooms. As the system does not require separate perimeter strips, the edges of the material were turned up to achieve complete screed isolation and a sand and cement screed applied directly on top.
Stuart Ladbury, project manager at McLaren, the main contractor on the project, comments: “As the Ramada Encore Chatham is situated over six floors, impact sound generated by the footfall of guests would have caused a significant disturbance. Regupol 7210C offered an ideal solution to control impact sound at the development. With just 44 weeks to complete the whole project, the simple application procedure of the material helped us to meet our tight deadlines.”
Undergoing minimal creep, even under high point loads, Regupol 7210C will maintain its superior insulation performance throughout the lifetime of the installation. Supplied in standard sheet sizes of 2,300mm x 1,150mm, with a guaranteed material thickness of 5mm, the material is available exclusively in the UK through CMS Acoustics.
Paul Absolon, technical director, CMS Acoustics, comments: “Impact sound is a common acoustic challenge for hospitality developments, such as the Ramada Encore Chatham. Regupol 7210C provided a cost effective solution to prevent impact sound travelling through the floor of the guest rooms, without increasing the floor height.”
