CMS Acoustics Designs Sound Solution for Albion
CMS Acoustics, the UK’s largest provider of acoustic solutions, has helped Albion, a London-based independent advertising agency, to get its creative communications back on track after delivering a cost effective acoustic design that has remediated reverberation levels at the company’s recently refurbished offices.
Albion consulted CMS Acoustics after occupation of its ‘ Tea Building’ offices post-refurbishment highlighted a need for improved sound control. The technical services team at CMS Acoustics conducted a comprehensive site survey to assess the environment and establish the exact source of the sound problems.
The main acoustic challenge identified in the offices was controlling reverberation of speech within internal enclosed meeting rooms, which were constructed within Albion’s main offices, inside the ‘ Tea Building’. As such, CMS Acoustics recommended the use of Vertiface – a highly attractive and cost effective acoustic wall covering.
Sian Goodman, finance director, Albion, comments: “As a creative agency, we strive to create a vibrant and inspiring working environment for our team. When we found the acoustics to be a problem in our newly refurbished offices we needed to resolve the issue without compromising the office atmosphere. CMS Acoustics were extremely switched on technically and helped us overcome our sound challenges by coming up with an acoustic design that has proved to be practical as well as visually striking.”
Vertiface is made from 100% polyester fibres that are thermally bonded in a non-woven matrix and laminated to a high density non-woven polyester backing. Adhering directly on to interior wall surfaces, Vertiface is quick and easy to install. Designed to offer an aesthetic final finish, it is available in 30 vibrant colours, which can be used to create a sound yet inspiring working environment.
Paul Absolon, technical director, CMS Acoustics, concludes: “Acoustics are commonly overlooked as part of refurbishments, which means any corrective works must take into account the existing design of the space. At Albion, we understood aesthetics to be a key part of the brief, and were able to meet the client’s requirements by using Vertiface to create an aesthetically pleasing finish in keeping with the creative environment.”
Available as a ‘Class A’ sound absorber, the Vertiface range is offered in a fine velour or rib finish and with a choice of 12mm, 16mm and 22mm thicknesses. Vertiface can achieve a noise reduction coefficient of 0.9, typically reducing reverberated noise by up to 90 percent.
Supplied in simple to install rolls or tiles, Vertiface Composition offers a retrospective and cost effective acoustic solution. At Albion, Vertiface was installed by Pace Installations, CMS Acoustics’ preferred installation partner.
