Telford Homes Installs Regupol 7210C to Control Impact Sound at its Vellum DevelopmentTelford Homes Installs Regupol 7210C to Control Impact Sound at its Vellum Development

CMS Acoustics, the UK’s largest provider of acoustic solutions, has supplied Regupol 7210C, a recycled rubber-bound underscreed isolation solution, to control impact sound and ensure compliance with Part E regulations at Telford Homes’ Vellum Development, Walthamstow. Comprising of over 200 apartments, 15,000m² of Regupol 7210C was installed in all the living spaces at the Vellum Development to reduce impact energy generated by footfall.

Achieving impact sound insulation of 46dB (mean average), Regupol 7210C exceeds the minimum requirement of 62dB or less specified by Part E regulations. Regupol 7210C is compatible with all types of floor screed and offers a flexible isolation system for any development.

Vellum Development was constructed in eight blocks with up to six storeys in each and Regupol 7210C was selected to isolate screeds from the main structure of all the buildings. This ensured that impact and airborne sound would be minimised, and the passage of sound between dwellings was controlled.

Mark Duffield, technical director, Telford Homes Metro, commented: “We have installed Regupol 7210C at a number of our new build apartment developments and have found that it is a cost effective underscreed isolation solution that gives us peace of mind that we will achieve Part E compliance. The customer service that we continue to receive from CMS Acoustics is second to none and the standard of technical advice means our in-house design team has an excellent relationship with them too.”

Supplied in easy to handle sheets, Regupol 7210C is quick and simple to install. Furthermore, it does not require separate perimeter strips or any fixing prior to the casting of the screed.

With a material thickness of just 5mm, Regupol 7210C helps to reduce construction heights. The system also benefits from minimal creep properties, even under high loads.

Manufactured to an exact process, Regupol 7210C is constructed of a high density recycled rubber compound that is also recyclable. This guarantees the consistency of physical properties between sheets and delivers an environmentally sound acoustic solution. Morever, with zero Global Warming Potential (GWP) and zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP), Regupol 7210C ensures minimal environmental impact during manufacturing.

Paul Absolon, technical director of CMS Acoustics, concludes: “Regupol 7210C is an exceptionally flexible underscreed product that is most commonly used in new build residential apartments and schools buildings. Not only does it provide cost effective compliance with acoustic standards, it is easy to install and has minimal environmental impact.”

CMS Acoustics is the exclusive UK partner for the high performance Regupol range, manufactured in Germany by BSW.
